Sometimes a quote from a coach is about the capabilities to produce numbers on the scoreboard. Arkansas hitting coach Nate Thompson most assuredly meant that when he said Zack Stewart has been “dangerous” with the bat of late.
But it took a new meaning when communication ace Oliver Grigg gave me stats on Stewart’s four at-bats this week against Oral Roberts. TrackMan had four hits from Stewart in play all over 106 mph. There was one blast at 114 mph, a rocket confirmed on two devices. That could decapitate a hurler.
Yes, it’s dangerous all right. Think about the poor ORU pitchers ducking when Stewart stroked lasers right back at them.
