Long ago, the city became known for producing some of the world’s finest, more dependable machines, but its thriving automobile industry automated and shifted in light of foreign competition, playing a big role in siphoning hundreds of thousands of people away from what had been the beating heart of Michigan. The good times, at least temporarily, seemed to grind to a halt.
Darius Acuff Jr., one of Detroit’s most promising exports in recent years, is no machine.
That may be news to some Arkansas basketball fans who’d come to expect an assembly line of excellence from him this season.
