FAYETTEVILLE — Mike Washington’s jubilant yell inside the hush at Lucas Oil Field had plenty of oomph behind it, sparked by strong emotions.
Washington had just run a 4.33 in the 40-yard dash, the best time for a running back at the NFL Scouting Combine, and the one-year Arkansas running back was deep in his feelings. The NFL Network cameras caught Washington wiping tears from his face with a towel as he capped a huge day of testing in Indianapolis a couple of weeks ago.
All of the doubters and negativity, the lack of recruitment for the native of Utica, New York, flooded his thoughts as he expressed his joy in the moment.
