There was a time in the not-too-distant past where Brennen Davis was supposed to be the next great Chicago Cubs star. Heading into the 2022 season, he was a consensus top-25 prospect in baseball and we all held hopes he'd be one of the pieces to lead the team out of its Jed Hoyer-led rebuild.
Unfortunately, injuries derailed his rise - and, to this day, he's yet to make his big-league debut. This spring, though, he once again looked like the real deal, entering Saturday slashing .364/.462/.848 in Cactus League action with the Seattle Mariners. But a storyline Cubs fans are all too familiar with may be playing out yet again, after Davis left Saturday's game against the Angels after tweaking his left hamstring.
