Everton goalkeeper coach Alan Kelly says he has been impressed but not surprised by Jordan Pickford’s excellent form this season, explaining “he’s consistent on and off the pitch”.
Pickford, who became the most expensive British goalkeeper of all-time when he sealed a switch Everton from Sunderland for a fee rising to £30million last summer, caught the eye of England manager Gareth Southgate with a number of assured performances for the Blues.
He was handed his senior international debut on Friday night, winning plaudits home and abroad - even prompting former Germany captain Michael Ballack into a lighthearted tweet of praise (below) - after keeping a clean sheet in the goalless draw with Joachim Löw’s side at Wembley.
