Texans continue with steady, veteran additions with latest signing

The Houston Texans have been on the clock with their fans regarding the future of the offense after two feeble showings during the 2025 NFL postseason.

While some positions are solidified (quarterback) or strengthened (running back), the offensive line remains a key area of focus. On Tuesday, the Texans' leadership finally made a new addition to the group, reaching an agreement with former free-agent offensive tackle Braden Smith on a two-year, $25 million contract that includes $13.5 million fully guaranteed, agent Michael Perrett of Priority Sports told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Smith, 30, has played eight seasons in the NFL, all with the Indianapolis Colts, with most of his snaps coming at right tackle.
