WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Indiana State struck for three runs early and added three more but couldn't stop a late Purdue rally in a 9-6 loss in the second game of a doubleheader Wednesday evening.
Amanda Guercio continued her hot hitting from the first game, going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI. Both of those RBI came in the first inning as her two-run double followed Shaye Barton's RBI single to give the Trees a 3-0 lead.
After Purdue drove in two runs with back-to-back hits – a single followed by a triple – in the third to cut the ISU lead to one, the Sycamores responded by scoring a pair of runs aided by one of Purdue's two errors in the game.
