CLEVELAND, Ohio – The No. 2 Akron Zips secured their third straight MAC Tournament Title appearance with a 75-68 win over No. 3 Kent State in the second semifinal of the 2026 MAC Men’s Basketball Tournament. Shammah Scott and Tavari Johnson led the way for Akron with 18 points apiece while Evan Mahaffey added 16 points of his own.
The Zips will take on No. 4 Toledo tomorrow night for the MAC’s automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Tip-off from Rocket Arena is slated for 8 PM ET and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2.
