The Minnesota Wild continue to have a positive affect for the United States at the 2026 Winter Olympics. First it was Quinn Hughes’ overtime goal against Czechia that propelled them into the semi-finals. Now it was Matt Boldy.
The Wild forward opened the scoring against Canada in the gold-medal game as he took a feed in the neutral zone, skated into the Canadian end, and split two defenders before chipping it over Jordan Binnington’s shoulder. The goal gave the Americans a 1-0 lead that has held up through the first 30 minutes of play.
It was the second goal of the tournament for Boldy, who scored in the qualifying round against Denmark.
