The war of words in women’s boxing is heating up. After Claressa Shields questioned her skills in a recent interview, Alycia Baumgardner didn’t hold back firing back with confidence and dismissing the criticism altogether. Speaking in response to Shields’ comments on The Last Stand with Brian Custer, Baumgardner made her stance crystal clear: “I’m the most skillful woman fighter there is, and that’s a fact.”
Baumgardner, the reigning unified IBF, WBA, and WBO junior lightweight champion, believes her resume and in-ring performances speak louder than any outside opinion especially from Shields. “I don’t take anything she says seriously because I can’t take her seriously,” Baumgardner added.
