“Superman” logged his second sub-minute stoppage of Matt Hughes when he cast aside the Pat Miletich protégé with an armbar in the first round of their UFC 29 welterweight rematch on Dec. 16, 2000 at Differ Ariake Arena in Tokyo. Hallman—who had scored a 17-second guillotine choke submission in their first meeting under the Extreme Challenge banner two years prior—drew the curtain a cool 20 seconds into Round 1.
Hughes met the Washington native with a slam takedown, then immediately found himself entangled in a triangle.
