– Can line up all over the field as a receiver (they used him as the X, Z and in the slot)
– Used as a receiver, runner, returner and thrower in the Clemson offense
– Looks for and finds the soft spots in zone coverage well
– He’s notably light-footed and quick in and out of his breaks
– His positioning in contested situations gives him room to earn plays and protect the ball
– Able to absorb contact on catches and hold on to the ball (only 1 drop this season)
– Strong hands when high-pointing on contested catches (49% over career)
– Excellent feel for when to take what the defense gives him and when to create
– Able to frequently stack a cornerback after beating him within the first 10 yards on vertical routes
– Dives or widens stems and runs them at full speed
– Keeps routes moving at an even tempo with good pacing
– Sells his routes well with jab steps, dive moves and stutters
– Works back to the QB if his route isn’t open
– Feisty competitor as a run blocker driving his hands through the chest of defenders
– Finds running lanes well and is patient as a punt returner on special teams
THE BAD
– Hands can be too wide of the other and the ball slips through (8 drops in 2024)
– Needs to prove he can win more often against physical and savvy cornerbacks
– Has to do more to set up defenders on vertical routes in the same way he can with shorter ones
– Intermediate breaks need more snap when turning inside or outside
– Quicker than fast in his routes
– Inconsistent YAC creator.
