Since coming into the NFL in 1993, new Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy has always been an offensive mind. It’s where he made his name, going from offensive quality control coach with the Kansas City Chiefs in 1993 to where he is now with his hometown Steelers.
Along the way, he’s worked with a number of great football minds, including Paul Hackett, who has served as his coaching mentor.
Throughout his career, McCarthy has been a West Coast offense disciple, and that’s what he’ll bring to the Steelers as the new head coach and play-caller offensively.
