In the closing stretch of the season, the margin for error can shrink quickly. On Friday night, the San Jose Sharks were reminded how costly those details can be.
Despite tying the game up twice and forcing overtime, the Sharks fell 3–2 to the St. Louis Blues at the SAP Center, looking for a single point in a game where execution proved itself decisive.
San Jose never led, but managed to answer both St. Louis goals before overtime. Still, puck management issues and defensive lapses created the openings the Blues needed to capitalize on.
“We didn’t have our best tonight,” Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky said postgame.
