Excitement was all across the Washington Commanders as they embarked on a new era under head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Adam Peters. Unfortunately for Brian Robinson Jr., it never looked as if he would be part of the team's long-term plans.
Robinson spent one season under Quinn, forming a decent partnership with Austin Ekeler en route to 799 rushing yards and eight touchdowns as Washington reached the NFC Championship game. But plans change quickly, and the former Alabama standout was no longer needed.
Something changed behind the scenes. Robinson had only one more year left on his rookie deal, and Peters wanted to extract maximum value.
