The Lawson Lunatics hosted International Students Night during Friday night’s WMU Hockey game at Lawson Ice Arena. The Lunatics celebrated a 6-2 win over Arizona State.
Nicolas Jimenez Martinez is a member of the Lunatics from Spain, and was a main driver in organizing the event.
“The culture shock was massive and it took me some time to adjust. But when I met the Lunatics they accepted me as one of their own, I'm really grateful for that,” said Martinez on the move from Spain to the US.
Students were able to bring small flags to celebrate their heritage, and countries such as Finland and Sweden have representation on a regular basis due to players on WMU’s team.
