WICHITA, Kan. -- Nebraska scored four runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back on the way to a 10-1 win over Wichita State on Wednesday afternoon at Eck Stadium.
The Shockers (15-8) were held to just three hits and had 16 consecutive hitters retired to end the game.
The Huskers (16-5) used two singles, two walks, two hit by pitches and an error to strike for four in the first inning against Wichita State starter (2-1), who recorded just one out in the inning before being lifted. Single runs in the second and fourth innings extended Nebraska's lead to 6-0 before the Shockers got their lone run in the bottom of the inning courtesy of an RBI double from against Nebraska starter Pryce Bender.
